Jane HenryFounder of LOOMLABSlipping out of bed at the crack of dawn, 4 year old Jane proceeded to meticulously cover the entire washing machine with her beloved sticker collection. Her astonished parents awoke to find their new appliance bedazzled in holograms and glitter. A need to design and accessorize was born.
Janes passion for creativity and the arts led her to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in fashion design at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Graduating with distinction, she earned the All-school Show award for her sculptural design and was invited to Dalian, China to present her Faberge inspired senior thesis on an international stage, winning the silver prize. Other awards included recognition from Philippe Starck for her design at the Boston apres Starck fashion show and the Fuller Craft Museum Trash Bash award for her inventive design with recycled tennis balls.
Janes designs are both sculptural and architectural. Her palettes convey a beautiful sense of color. At Reebok International, Jane designed womens tennis apparel, worn by tennis stars such as Nicole Vaidisova and Jelena Jankovic. Her work in sport apparel ignited her fascination for fabric innovation and cutting-edge performance technology in textiles.
Jane moved to Los Angeles to join Tadashi Shoji & Associates. Working directly with Tadashi, she honed her red carpet design sensibility, with an emphasis on accenting a womens beauty, and learned the ins and outs of the business of fashion. She attended NY fashion weeks, made frequent trips to Shanghai to work on the collections, and led monthly and seasonal line development for the Tadashi Shoji brand.
Jane launched LOOMLAB in Fall 2009. Drawing from her database of visual thought, Janes scarf designs are inspired by her fascination with modernization and technology. LOOMLAB marks her first foray in scarf design with EXPERIMENT 1.
